FEED THE RIGHT WOLF

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside all people. He said, “My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all.

“One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

“The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Like many people I’ve struggled through my life, unable to find any meaning. By the time I was 25 years old, I found myself in the place where I no longer knew what to do next, and I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go. To make things worse, I was battling numerous addictions, and these battles and addictions consumed most of my time and energy. I did not know how to battle my addictions and kept trying the quitting “cold turkey” approach, failing every time.

One night a friend of mine send me a political article. I can no longer remember what the article was about, but the narrator used the old Cherokee story as his closing line. I think I’ve heard this story before, but this time it took on a whole new meaning for me. I realized that all I had to do in order to get my life back together was to feed the right wolf.

On this site I mainly write about sex (or pornography) addiction, as for me this was the hardest addiction to overcome. But I like to believe that different kinds of people could relate to my experience and hopefully learn something from my mistakes.

Homosexuality is often promoted in pornography and is something that sex addicts frequently wrestle with. I’m writing from a Christian perspective primarily for people who love God and want to be free of homosexual desires. Before proceeding, I want to emphasize that God loves homosexuals just as much as any other person, He just hates the Sin not the Sinner. God sent Jesus Christ to die for all people and those who place their trust in him can receive forgiveness, healing and power to change.
